Today we were on the move again. We woke up and had a nice leisurly stroll through the Hilton grounds to take one last look at our resort before leaving. We discovered the tennis courts that we had not seen before. They have one that has stadium style seating for about 430 people. Raju thinks they use that court for pro-qualifying matches.
Raju decided to take a few more slides down the water slide while I leisurely returned to our room by walking down the mile walkway of art. We checked out at 11:30a.m. and made our way to the airport for our 30 min. flight to Maui. It's amazing that the whole airport on The Big Island is open air. There is no inside. Our flight was smooth and short. When we got to Maui, we made our way to the taxi stand and started our journey to our new hotel. Our taxi driver, Jerry, was very friendly and knowledgeable (as much of the Hawaiian's are). He pointed our various points of interest and shops we would be interested in. The drive here was much different that on The Big Island. Over there it was past a bunch of rocks, whereas here it was along the coast line and a beautiful view of the ocean with a bit lusher landscape.
When we got to the hotel our room wasn't quite ready so we had to wait about 15 min. Once it was ready up we came. It's like our own little apartment. I have to wonder if the kitchen here isn't bigger than ours at home. We went down to the restaurant for a quick bite to eat and then headed across the street to the grocery store to get some staples and at least tide us over for lunch. We'll play it by ear and the days we want to cook we'll go buy our meat at that time.
We have an ocean view room so we managed to see a lovely sunset today.
One thing I have noticed about Hawaii is the craziness of the birds. They go absolutely nuts just before dark. I was looking out our window and it reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" They were in the trees and on the roofs and were very loud. I think they have just settled down.
Tomorrow morning I'll be up early for orientation and then we'll figure out the rest of our week from there, and hopefully get a new camera so I can post some more pictures for you.
