A good beginning

2010 has started with time spent with family and friends.
On New Year's Day we had our regular Rayman family gathering and cousin gift exchange. There was plenty of food and time to catch up with everyone. As much as it seems the family grows with new babies there is also a sadness when we realize those who have passed and are no longer with us (I like to think they are in spirit). This year we took the time to celebrate Fariena's birthday. She will be 40 on the 8th. I made some special cupcakes for the occasion.

The next day the celebrations continued with my birthday. First thing we were off to the grocery store to pick up fixings for Raju's feast for me. We had some friends and family over and although it was a potluck, we still like to make sure there is enough food. The menu was:
Pakoras (Mother in law)
Chicken wontons (Raju)
Goat cheese in balsamic vinegar dip (Camilla)
Stuffed mushrooms (Fariena)
Shrimp in chocolate sauce (Jay and Jenn)
Chicken parmigiana (Abbas)
Lamb chops (Raju)
Pasta shells stuffed with spinach, ricotta and cottage cheese (Me)
Butter chicken and rice (Mother-in-law)
Veggie salad (Arndis)
Mushroom risotto (Mahi)
Salad (Sally)
Bruschetta (Diana)
Birthday cake (Caroline)
Birthday cupcakes (Me)
Whew!!! Thank goodness my getting fit, eat right plan doesn't start until tomorrow. And it's also a good think that my 25 year old metabolism works wonders so I can eat all this food and not gain an ounce (hs
